Dystopia Sans Regular was developed as a two-week school project at Westerdals.
Despite the limited time period I decided to make a useable alphabet instead of a decorative display font. Since it was my first experience with type design I tried to learn the basics
based on the motto "learning by doing".
I have always been fascinated by dystopian books and films like "1984" and "Planet of the Apes" and I chose to make a typeface inspired by the genre. I wanted the typeface to communicate
the same awkwardness and uneasyness as the dystopian depictions of future societies.
The result became a mono spaced neo-grotesque with subtle visual references to the genre
mainly meant for book covers and small amounts of text.
