Formering

2013
What happens if you try to filter a message through a long line of seasoned communicators, and what may happen when skilled people get together to push the boundaries of communication? "Formering - en utstilling i samarbeid" (english translation: "Reproduction - an exhibition in cooperation") was executed as communication experiment with some of Norway's greatest designers, illustrators and animators. The project started with a written brief and each following participant had 48 hours to find an answer based on the visual solution of their predecessor. The project was made in cooperation with Grafill - the Norwegian organization of graphic design and illustration, and was exhibited at R21 in Oslo, May 2013.
Formering was nominated in Visuelt 2014.

To match the casual mood of the project, the visual direction is based on seemingly unplanned elements in flux. A visual representation of a chinese whisper game where the message is distorted and transformed in a constant chain of coding/decoding.

For the exhibition itself, we were looking for a system that would function as a clear guide through the project's timeline, but with a certain un-authoritarian transparency. Using zip ties, we connected 100 standard IVAR shelf-structures from IKEA to build a construction in the middle of the room.
